30 Jul 2009 - GAA - Minogue basks in Banner breakthrough

"The first title win has been a long, long time coming," the Scariff man said after the historic 2-17 to 2-12 victory over Waterford in Dungarvan.

"My most immediate reaction is one of palpable relief because while we fully deserved our win, we had to wait virtually until the death to ensure that we were over the line. Waterford just never gave up and pushed us all the way."

Minogue, whose charges now progress to an All-Ireland semi-final meeting with Galway, said he has been privileged to work with such a "special bunch".

He added: "I honestly believe that they, and Clare, have a fantastic hurling future, and that tonight could mark the start of the rebuilding process."
