Participation in Féile Peil na nÓg was again the biggest expenditure item of the year although costs were reduced to just over €7,000.00 in this regard in 2008 (a decrease of over 30% on the 2007 figure of €10,000.00).

The senior team cost in excess of €6,500 to run throughout the year which included after match meals fees, transport costs, training expenses and participation in the All Ireland Club Sevens.

Total expenditure for the year again exceeded €40,000.00 and there is a healthy balance sheet entering 2009 with no unmet financial liabilities.

Registrar’s Report:

The inaugural club registration evening in 2008 was a huge success and over €2,500.00 in membership/registration fees was collected on the night. Membership remained steady in 2008.

Chairman’s Address:

Chairman Pat O’Driscoll thanked everybody who had assisted him throughout the year especially his fellow executive officers and committee. He also thanked all the team mentors and selectors for the great job they did throughout the year.

Mr. O’Driscoll especially thanked the club secretary for his support and counsel during the early months of the year when issues with the Banner GAA Club were paramount.

The chairman mentioned his special pride in the Banner Ladies Club winning the Clare Senior League and Championship for the first time in 2008 and spoke of how, when he joined the club thirteen years ago, this was but a distant dream. He was very happy that this dream materialised in 2008.

Motions Passed:

1. That all club players will pay a specified levy (to be determined by the executive and club committee) when attending training and that it will be the responsibility of the team manager (and in the case of adult teams the team captain also) to ensure that this levy is collected and recorded.

2. That the club will put in place an independent finance committee to oversee the organization of fundraising and sponsorship for the club.
